From ACX100/ACX111 wireless network driver project
Regarding..
(1) is a combined firmware for a ti acx111 card that uses radio 16 (originally named FwRad16.bin)
.. it would be nice to know what "radio 16" actually means. I have a wlan card (Vivanco 18261) that even has additional files FwRad17.bin and fw1130.bin. How might they relate to the FwRad16.bin file?
-- This has been updated to: (1) is a combined firmware for a TI ACX111 chip that uses a radio module with ID 0x16 (originally named FwRad16.bin), which means that 0x16 is a numerical identifier in hexadecimal format, used to uniquely identify the radio module of the card. The radio module is a hardware device that deals with the transmission of radio signals.
Another open question for me is how the driver will know which firmware file(s) to pick and how it knows where to put them in the wlan card.
-- The driver will first obtain the identifier of the radio module from the card. Then it will pick up the appropriate firmware according to this number.
Elsewhere someone wrote you can put firmware files from different manufacturers (which use they same ACX chip however) on the wlan card. Leaves the question if one can render the card unusable with wrong firmware actions.
-- I cannot answer this. However, in case your distribution does not provide you with the appropriate fimware files (very unlikely on these days), I would have a look at the kernel log for messages from the acx driver, which will tell you which firmware it is trying to load. Once you know the firmware it is trying to load, I would go to the locations specified in the Firmware article to get it.

The old link an the new one I wrote are not working property. In both cases the files are dowloaded with problems, apparent truncated as tar command said. Thanks for any help. I need the firmware as soon as posible. Thanks. gengiskanhg.geo@yahoo.com

This article seems to refer to two conflicting paths for the acx firmware, with differing positions for acx version in the path - which is correct?
